Whatever the time of year, motorhome hire in Brussels remains very attractive. In this cosmopolitan city, there is always plenty to do. As a symbol of a people who love to party, beer is a perfect accompaniment to Belgian evenings. So weekends are always very festive. In fact, the party is at its peak during the 5-day Brussels Summer Festival.

But Brussels holds many hidden treasures. Effectively, it is one big open-air cultural centre. The city is rich in history. The Manneken Pis, the Atomium and even the Brussels City Hall pride themselves as important landmarks of the city.

Getting to Brussels

Situated as the border between the Latin and Nordic countries, Brussels is a real European crossroads. While the E40 European road offers real access from the west and east, the E19 European road offers a direct connection to cities in the south and north. In addition, Brussels airport is located only twelve kilometres to the north-east of the city. Ryanair, KLM, EasyJet or even Lufthansa are all companies that offer flights to Belgium. Brussels North station offers direct access to the city centre. Moreover, the railway lines offer multiple connections with neighbouring European cities

Parking in Brussels

As well as the Ecuyer-Brussels inter parking system, which allows parking in the heart of the city for £15.50/€18 per day, there are numerous underground car parks. The Albertine-Square inter parking facility offers another possibility for parking at a rate of £19/€22 per day. On the outskirts of the city, many P+R (Park and Ride) car parks offer parking for campervan hire in Brussels without height restrictions for £2.50/€3/day, provided you have a public transport ticket. These are what the city calls "deterrent" car parks. The P+R Craheim and P+R Ceria offer these advantageous options.

Annual Events in Brussels

  • The Brussels Summer Festival, in August. A 5-day festival during which numerous concerts take place in the streets of the city.
  • The Midi Fair, from July to August. This is a giant funfair that takes place along the Boulevard du Midi.
  • The Belgian Beer Weekend on the Grand Square, in September. During these two days, the people of Brussels celebrate one of the country's favourite specialities: beer!
  • Tomorrowland, in Boom, in July. This festival attracts thousands of festival-goers from all corners of the world. The cost of a three-day festival is around £425/€500 (including accommodation).
  • Belgian National Day, 21st July. The people of Brussels commemorate the oath of the first Belgian king in 1831. A symbol of Belgian independence, this event gives way to many festivities.

Camping in Brussels

As the Belgian capital is very attractive all year round, it is best to book a campsite for overnight stays in a motorhome.

  • Brussels Caravaning Club campsite. To the east of the city, offering a rustic setting for cosy Belgian nights. From £7/€8 
  • Grimbergen campsite. A few kilometres north of the city centre, this site offers campervan pitches for £7.70/€9 per person.
  • Druivenland campsite is located south of the city. This three-star campsite charges £5/€5.50 per person per day. In addition, you will have to pay a pitch rental fee of £4.25/€5.
