There are scenes of remarkable natural beauty just a short drive away in your campervan rental. If you're looking for inspiration, try our English heritage campervan road trip that starts in London and takes in the country's exotic sites.

When you hire a campervan from London, you can access several scenic and historical sites, like Scotland, Manchester, Edinburgh, or anywhere else in the United Kingdom.

London's National Parks

London has over 3000 green spaces. But if you want to experience the true majesty of the United Kingdom's outdoors, you'll need to escape to the countryside in your campervan rental to experience its incredible national and regional parks.

The Norfolk and Sussex broad to the east of England are a few hours away by campervan or motorhome. You can explore their unique waterways by boat, bike, or foot. Lots of history and wildlife make it a place you won't forget in a hurry.

Finally, if you take a South England campervan road trip, you can reach Dartmoor National Park. Spectacular walks, diverse wildlife, and endless waterfalls and walks make this one the best places to spend time as a family.

While not actually a national park, Epping Forest in Essex is the closest sanctuary you can reach in a campervan or motorhome hire. Biking, boating, dog walking, and relaxing are some of the best activities in this sprawling, unspoiled park.

Coastline, Lakes Rivers in London

When starting your road trip from London, there are many breathtaking coastline spots, lakes, and rivers you can reach to spend a unique day in nature.

Whitstable Beach in Kent is a time-honoured holiday destination. A rocky beach, glorious seaside views, and quaint surroundings make it worth visiting. The Tankerton Slopes and Whitstable Harbour are top attractions. There's also a Michelin-star restaurant called The Sportsman in nearby Faversham that is well worth a visit if you want to treat yourself.

Birling Gap in East Sussex is a hidden gem. But see it while you can because the coast is eating away at the cliff edge by about three metres each year. Additionally, the chalkstone Seven Sisters cliffs are worth the trip. Each cliff bears the name of one of the sisters, and it's a great spot for a hike.

Dungeness  Beach, in Kent, is another unique coastal trip worth exploring. It has a strange, desolate, otherworldly feeling that you won't find anywhere — plus delicious seafood spots. Truly unmissable.

Finally, Durdle Door beach on the Jurassic Coast is one of the most celebrated and photographed beaches in the UK. The natural limestone was named a UNESCO world heritage site in 2001, so if you're going on a campervan or motorhome rental, find time to work it in.

The South of England has some excellent lakes you can reach with a campervan or motorhome hire near London. Tilgate Park near Gatwick Airport has Tilgate Lake, which offers canoeing and boating. At the same time, Black Park Lake, Buckinghamshire, has excellent fun and games for active adventures, while Bewl Water is an 800-acre site of Outstanding Natural Beauty for a reason.

London is built on the London River Thames estuary. It travels out past Kent to the sea, and there is a lot to see and do on its banks. Lee Valley in East London offers a range of watersports, while Bowles Rocks is an excellent spot in Tunbridge Wells that offers canoeing and boating activities for the family that you can reach by campervan or motorhome rental.
